TRISTRAM LEWIS
Coming to sculpting later in life, as a third
career, I have generally focused on equine
subjects and portraiture. However, Long
dogs have always been a firm favourite; I
first met ‘Molly’, the subject of this Lurcher
study, when she accompanied my farrier
on his visits. I have known her all her life
and she was an obvious model for this
work..., the studded collar was inspired by
an eighteenth century French bronze of a
hound. When time permits I will make some
more dogs!
I must add that I owe everyone at the
Rough Coated Lurcher, bronze, 1/3rd Scale, 28 x 27 x 6 cm
Osborne Studio Gallery a huge debt of
thanks for the support and encouragement
I have always received since the very start of
my career as an artist!
