TERENCE GILBERT
My father, a keen racing punter, always took
me as a small boy on his shoulders to the
Epsom races. From then on, I was hooked.
Later I became an artist, painting horses
and portraits all over the world. Painting
great horses like Frankel, and jockeys such
as Lester Piggott.
The Last Turn, oil on canvas, 74 x 154 cm
But I always remembered my Epsom
visits at 5 years old, standing at Tattenham
Corner watching jockeys’ rainbow silks
speeding by.
This painting is a fond memory of those
times.
