David travels widely in search of subjects
to paint and is especially fascinated by
mountains, the Arctic, and desert scenery.
He works mainly in watercolour, his original
sketches often show signs of being done in
pouring rain, sometimes with washes frozen Fiery Sky in the Picos, watercolour, 48 x 58 cm
into intricate patterns, or mud-spattered.
He has paintings in the collections of Sir
Chris Bonington, Sir David Attenborough,
the Jordanian Royal Family, and author Bill
Bryson, among others. David has written 22
books illustrated by his paintings, including
David Bellamy’s Arctic Light (2017) and his
latest, Arabian Light (2022).
