Some works are on canvas, whereas others incorporate reclaimed artefacts that I have collected from various boat yards, antique centres, derelict houses and so on.'
Garry Pereira has been painting professionally for around thirty years, with his subejct and inspiration being the British land and seascapes, and what goes on in those rural areas. Over the years, he has exhibited in international exhibitions in Europe, Asia, North America and Australasia.
His paintings are essentially made on location in places that are special to him. In order to paint, Garry feels the need to have some form of connection to the subject, before he captures the complexities and beauty of the changing seasons.
Pereira tries to step back from the modern world, instead concentrating on a more traditional approach to painting and his environment. His small studio, an ex alms house, is heated by open fires and has limited technology, making it the ideal retreat to step back and concentrate on his practice.
