For Clementine's second solo show at the gallery, she depicts a painterly world and journey to discover the unique and diverse relationships of horses and man. Fresh paintings of wild ponies on wet and windy moors to patient cavalry horses to dusty mountainous scenes.
Clem paints with a real vivacity and immediacy, she is a en plein air artist par excellence. In this her second show at the OSG she shows a greater confidence than ever in her work, not overworked but inspired. Clem contrasts the wild Cornish coastline, the West Coast of Scotland, the Quantock hills and the wide open skies of North Yorkshire with the exotic colours and atmosphere of Morocco and Namibia along with Sri Lanka and Monet's France.
Horses are as ever a major part of Clem's work and the influence of all time great Sir Alfred Munnings is apparent. She knows her subjects intimately and captures them poignantly, switching with ease between different cultures and themes. This therefore promises to be an exhibition of great depth and quality and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you here.
