Jonathan Trowell (1938-2013) as a sporting and landscape painter spans some 50 years. He was passionate about horses and racing a subject matter, with all its variety that lent itself so well to his dramatic portrayals. His many awards as a young student included a scholarship to the Royal Academy Schools. There he received several awards which were to herald his future success. The Osborne Studio Gallery represented him from its inception in 1986. Very sadly he died in 2013 and the gallery continues to exhibit his work.
